HouseWire is a project I am developing to document electrical installations as structured data. Each installation is described in YAML files kept separate from the application code.
From physical spaces to wiring
The visual editor lets you arrange places, enclosures, devices, conduits and conductors on the same canvas. Physical and electrical views make it easier to understand both the layout of an installation and the connections between its parts.
Visual editing and a shell
HouseWire provides a web interface, an Electron desktop application, and an interactive shell for inspecting, adding or changing elements. The resulting model can be validated and saved back to YAML.
Reusable catalogs
Equipment, materials and connection types are described through independent catalogs, allowing installations to reuse shared definitions without mixing private site data with the program.
Source code
The project is developed primarily in Python and JavaScript and is published under the SSPL 1.0 license. The source code and installation instructions are available at GitHub: guillermomolina/housewire.
